‘American Crime’ episode 7 preview: What the Tony video leak means
“American Crime” is a show that has a whole lot going for it, including the presentation of an intense story, some gripping performances, and a passion for really taking on some of the most serious subject matter that we have seen on network TV. With that said, why is the promo department at ABC trying so hard to hype that up? They spend so much time telling you that the series is history-making, but do not really do the best job in the world of telling you what it is about. It’s hard enough to follow sometimes for those actually watching it live.
While we would prefer a promo that prefers a focus more on an individual storyline or two (such as the Tony video), you can almost see “Mad Men”-style a series of little highlights in there. Also, take a look now at the synopsis, which is a little richer when it comes to information as a whole:
“While Carter sits in solitary confinement, Aubry blindsides her family when asked to testify against Carter in order to stay out of jail. Meanwhile, an incriminating video leads to Tony being re-arrested and sent back to juvenile detention. Elsewhere, Mark’s fiancé Richelle (Gwendoline Yeo) arrives in Modesto and meets Barb, who unashamedly questions her plans to marry Mark. Aliyah meets with a new investigator who provides her with damaging information that could help Carter. Once the prosecution refuses to hear this new evidence, she becomes determined to hold a peaceful demonstration in support of her brother.”
