‘Chicago Fire’ season 3 spoilers: ‘Walking Dead’ alum cast in ‘Chicago PD,’ ‘Law & Order: SVU’ crossover

Chicago Fire -It appears as though Dallas Roberts is being prepared for an unforgettable arc on three Dick Wolf series. The former “Walking Dead” and “Unforgettable” star is going to be guest-starring in a series of installments that are going to air in late April.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Roberts has been cast to play the role of Greg Yates, a doctor who is stuffed full of charisma, but may have a dark secret that leads to him becoming a target in a string of rape / murders. This means that his arc will begin with “Chicago Fire,” and then eventually carry over to “Law & Order: SVU” and “Chicago PD.”

So why is there another big three-part crossover coming this season? There is a very simple answer to that: Ratings: NBC wants to ensure that they get the biggest numbers that they can at the moment, especially since they have another potential spin-off coming in “Chicago Med” that will be premiering as a backdoor pilot next week. All of these shows are officially renewed already for another season, but why not bump the numbers up as much as you can for the time being?

There are only a few select episodes of each one of them still airing, but the good news is that with “Chicago Fire” returning from a hiatus Tuesday, the marks the first week in a good while that you are going to have a real opportunity to see all of these shows on at the same time in a while.
