‘Downton Abbey’ season 6: Could younger version of Maggie Smith’s Violet spin off?
We have heard a variety of rumors already when it comes to “Downton Abbey,” and they are only going to be increasing exponentially as we get closer and closer to the final season premiering in the fall … especially when it comes to a spin-off. Despite the odds of this happening being extremely low, the press will probably continue to discuss it until the ends of the earth.
So while we don’t think that there is going to be an official spin-off at any point in the near future, one thing that is apparently possible is that we could see a character or two heading back in time for the upcoming NBC series “The Gilded Age.” Executive producer Julian Fellowes is already working on the show, even though its specific air date is not entirely clear.
So is it possible that we could end up seeing a character like Violet on this show? If nothing else, we do at least think that these two shows could be canon. Speaking per the Daily Mail, Fellowes had the following to say about getting a younger version of Maggie Smith’s character:
“Robert Grantham would be in his early teens, Cora would be a child. A young Violet could make an appearance.”
Granted, there are serious limitations to getting a character from “Downton Abbey” on this show, with the big one being that there cannot really be anything in here that would ultimately change the timeline in any sort of seismic way. It would probably have to be nothing other than a one-or-two-episode guest spot.
