Is ‘The Amazing Race 26’ episode 5 new tonight on CBS?

For all of those who love “The Amazing Race,” let’s just hope that you are also the patient type. Due to NCAA Tournament basketball, there is no new installment airing on CBS Friday night. Not only that, but there is also not a new installment of the show airing until Friday, April 3. The tournament is really going to take that long! If there is a silver lining here, it is that you will have new episodes of the series at least until May 15. It could even last until the 22nd, depending on whether or not the show wants to air a two-hour finale.

Now, we turn to what could end up being the rather bad news for the series: Is it a very bad sign for the future of the series that there is no new installment for a few weeks? This is a show that tends to mostly benefit from airing without any repeats blocking it up. In having some time away, viewers may forget about the teams, and in turn decide not to come back. This could be made even worse by the fact that the show airs on Friday nights, and that is when many people have many different options at their disposal.

We are worried that this will be the last season of the show, and if it is, we really don’t want to see it go out this way. This season has been better than we expected, but we still want to see another season with the familiar teams from all walks of life, and without some of “Date Night” twists that don’t really seem to be working. Do any of the blind dates really seem that into each other? Jeff & Jackie are hot-and-cold, and that seems to be the most likely pair to have something happen.

Hopefully, CBS is going to give us a morsel or two during this waiting period to tide us over.
