Ratings: ‘iZombie’ has solid start; ‘Undateable,’ ‘The Flash’ return to good numbers

The ratings have come in for Tuesday night’s TV lineup, and it feels like by and large, there’s a lot to be fairly happy about at the moment. This is especially true if you are a viewer of The CW.

After a decent amount of hype and a promotional campaign, “iZombie” premiered last night to a 0.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic. That is slightly off recent episodes of “Supernatural” in that same timeslot, but it is still a pretty strong premiere that matches that “The 100” first scored last year. It is also a stronger premiere than “Jane the Virgin” from this past fall, and if that number holds, it would make the show the network’s #4 show behind “The Flash,” “Arrow,” and the aforementioned Jared Padalecki – Jensen Ackles show. Part of the appeal here comes from the premise (a zombie who uses brains to solve crimes), and it also has former “Veronica Mars” executive producer Rob Thomas on board. This is a show that should keep most of its number, given that the premiere was reasonably well-liked.

As for other returns, “The Flash” (1.2) was down 20% off of its most-recent episode, but it will probably get some back after this phenomenal episode last night. “Undateable” (1.9) premiered for its second season on NBC, and this is a much better number than for its premiere last summer. Granted, the show had a lead-in last night courtesy of “The Voice” (3.1), which is certainly a good support system.

The other premiere last night was the comedy “One Big Happy,” which drew a decent 1.6 after “Undateable.”
