‘Community’ season 6: Another star, another pilot

The more that we hear about “Community” and its cast going into pilot season, the more we are starting to feel like they are at least ready to call it a day. After all, many of them have been looking at other options. Yvette Nicole Brown already has another gig, and both Ken Jeong and Danny Pudi have starring roles in other projects.

Now, we are hearing that even one of the newcomers to the upcoming season has decided to set the stage for her own future. According to Deadline, Paget Brewster, who was brought on for this coming season in a significant role (she previously made one appearance as a different character), has been cast as one of the main characters in the Fox comedy pilot “Grandpa.” This pilot stars John Stamos as a man who suddenly realizes that he is both a father and also a grandfather. Josh Peck of “Drake & Josh” fame has been cast as the son.

Brewster is going to play the ex-girlfriend of Stamos’ character, who is also the mother of Peck’s character and decided to keep the truth from him for over twenty years. This is keeping with Paget’s recent decision to tackle more comedy, and we do feel like it is time for Stamos to get a regular gig on TV again. Enough time has passed so that not everyone automatically thinks of him as Uncle Jesse anymore.

“Community” season 6 is going to premiere in under a week on March 17. Somehow, it feels like there should be more press for it than it is. (Note: We volunteer as tribute! Sorry, it was too easy to not use the quote.)
