‘Glee’ season 6 song spoilers: Hear song ‘Rise,’ co-written by Darren Criss

Blaine -Friday night’s “Glee” episode is entitled “The Rise and Fall of Sue Sylvester,” and it is going to be more than a little bit different than a standard episode of the show. Why is that? The simple answer at the moment is mostly that we’re going to have an original song for the first time in forever.

We reported recently a little bit about “Rise,” which is a song co-written by Darren Criss that is one of two that he has coming up. Neither one of them are exactly Blaine spotlight songs, but we can at least still say that this one is particularly great. It almost makes us wonder why the show was not looking to him for more original songs before now. It has an anthem sort of quality to it that makes it perfect for the show, and we may actually like it a good bit more than some of the other original songs that were released many years ago.

Hopefully, this song (which you can listen to HERE) will get a little bit of traction even beyond the show. We still remember back when “Glee” musical numbers were lighting up the iTunes sales charts, and we wish that this was something we were still seeing a little more of when the show does put out a good number.

We’re hopefully going to have more about this song, and about the episode as a whole, very soon. Be sure to stay tuned for more scoop on that!
