‘Red Band Society’ finale spoilers: Show boss on a regrettably-short storyline

After launching the series and hoping that it would ultimately be an institution that stuck around on the network for a very long time, “Red Band Society” has instead become more or less an event series. Hopefully, you’ve enjoyed the series for what it was, and there is at least some sort of decent end to the series finale on Saturday.

What we do know for now is that there is one part of the story that is going to be cut off in particular much shorter than executive producer Rina Mimoun hoped: A new love interest for Dash. Speaking to TVLine, she explained a little about how this potentially-fun story for the character will be introduced, only for it to end much sooner than she would have wanted:

“That was the only bummer,. There was a moment in time where we felt we were doing more than 13 episodes, and we were excited because we had the opportunity to introduce this new character, and I love the actress (Jessica Lu). She and Astro (who plays Dash) had so much fun together, and they just popped on screen. That is the one arc that got tragically cut a bit short; we would’ve liked to explore that relationship a lot more.”

We do wish that there was an opportunity for the show to have a second season, but that was just to pass. We do know that there was an attempt to shop the show around elsewhere, but there wasn’t the right mix of interest and financials in order to make it work.
