‘Galavant’ finale: The man behind the music

Alan Menken is a man whose name you may have heard of; if you have not, then odds are that you’ve probably sung aloud at least two or three of his songs in your lifetime. This is a man responsible for some of the greatest songs in Disney history, and he also happens to be the man at the center of ABC’s new series “Galavant.”

So want to get a greater sense of what it takes to work behind the scenes making some of these big musical numbers happen? Well, that is what the video below is all about! In this video, many of the cast members (including the delightful Timothy Omundson) and Menken himself all get together in order to speak about some of what it means to get these songs together, and also some of the process behind making them sound perfect.

The quality of the songs is personally one of the things that we find the most impressive right now. Not only are most of the lyrics funny and tied in well to the story, but we also have a really wonderful melodic sensibility behind them. The main theme of the entire show is something that we had stuck in our head for quite a while.
