ABC’s ‘Resurrection’ season 2, episode 12 video: Why have the Returned gathered together?

It is crazy, but true: The end of the road for “Resurrection” is almost here. The penultimate episode (or at least it seems that way given recent ratings) will be airing on ABC Sunday night, and it may come closer to giving you some of the answers you’ve been hoping for.

Based off of the new sneak peek video below, what we can say is that we’re starting to understand what most of the Returned care about, and that is Rachael’s unborn child. We cannot exactly say we’re that surprised by this. For whatever reason, the science fiction genre has long been particularly interested in telling these stories all about babies holding some sort of special powers, or holding great significance over others. This was something that was widespread with Claire’s baby with “Lost,” and with what we saw recently on “Falling Skies.”

With all of this being said, the meaning behind this child and his or her story may still be very different. All we know for sure is that there is a multitude of people, from Bellamy to Jacob, standing outside of Rachael’s window looking to see what happens. It’s basically the most creepy enactment of that “Say Anything” scene ever, minus the jukebox and the romantic intent.

Whatever happens here has to be pretty darn significant, at least if the producers want to give us some sort of definitive ending soon. 42 minutes is not a lot of time to tell a story, especially one that is as complicated as this one is.
