‘The View’: Rosie Perez reportedly leaving ABC series
Well, it did not take very long at all for there to be some further news regarding someone leaving “The View,” mere months after the show underwent one of the its biggest creative shakeups to date.
According to a report from Variety, Rosie Perez is not going to be returning to the ABC daytime show, after the news was already announced that she would take most of January off in order to rehearse a Broadway play. There are many alleged reasons for her exit, but her struggles to handle working with a teleprompter is supposedly somewhere on the list.
So what will the show do from here? The first thing is continue business as usual, since they do have a program to continue putting on the air every day. Eventually, they will cast a new permanent co-host, but it may not be until the fall given that it is hard to really test anyone out during the season itself.
We imagine that some will miss Perez, but the real selling points of this new panel were mostly Rosie O’Donnell and Whoopi Goldberg. We don’t have any indication that they are going anywhere in the near future, and that means that there will still most likely be ratings. The show has handled the exit of Barbara Walters about as well as it could, but it does feel almost like a completely different show with her no longer being in the picture.
Sooner or later, we’ll probably have more news on a potential replacement. Stay tuned for a little more when it comes to that.
