ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 7 spoilers: Latest Stana Katic photo, latest on filming

Let’s face it: Right now is a pretty quiet time in the world of “Castle” news. There is not a new episode airing until Monday, January 12, and when you remember that, of course things are going to be quiet.

However, we can at least give you a sense of where the cast and crew are right now in filming: Working on polishing off the epic two-part episode that will air in February. Earlier this week, Stana Katic shared some Twitter-proof in the form of a photo of herself alongside Annie Wersching, who is returning to the show as the mysterious Dr. Kelly Nieman. The fact that Katic was in multiple episodes of “24” as Collette Stenger is something that tends to be forgotten, much like how other TV stars’ past roles do. (Today, we were blown away by remembering that Stephen Amell had a part on “The Vampire Diaries.”)

Wersching was in almost 40 episodes of “24,” and in between everything else she has going on, she will be doing an arc on the aforementioned vampire drama herself at some point soon.

As for what brings Nieman back into the “Castle” world, that much is still relatively a mystery. Her character has been a long-suspected connection to Jerry Tyson a.k.a. 3KX, but so far, there has been no definitive proof that the man is still alive. The last time that she was on the show, it was during a November sweeps episode in season 6, when the character disappeared the moment that Beckett and Castle were finally catching on.
