‘The Walking Dead’ spin-off spoilers: ‘Gang Related’ alum Cliff Curtis cast as lead

The Walking Dead -Who is Cliff Curtis? He is a New Zealand actor whose credits include “Missing” and “Gang Related,” and it also turns out you will be seeing a whole lot more of him moving forward on “The Walking Dead’s” upcoming spin-off / companion series / whatever else you want to call it.

According to Deadline, Curtis is going to star on the AMC series as a divorced teacher who wants to be a good guy, and will do just about everything within his power to prove that he is. This is not the first major casting for this show, but we imagine that he is going to be for this series what Andrew Lincoln was for the original.

We are not surprised first and foremost that the network and executive producer Robert Kirkman wanted someone in this role who is not extremely well-known, since you don’t want to rush the risk of casting someone who is so famous, it distracts from the world that they are in. Also, we imagine that it helps that this is a show that will get interest just from having the “Walking Dead” name attached to it.

This spin-off series has been operating under the working title “Cobalt,” but there is not much known about the story other than the characters. It is to be set in a different part of the world than Atlanta, and will show how other people, unrelated to the comic series, are handling the zombie apocalypse. This may be too much zombie for us to really be excited about, but at the same time, it will be interesting to see how the show works when nobody knows what is going to happen.
