‘Doctor Who’ season 9: BBC coy on Jenna Coleman’s future after new reports

Doctor Who -Will Jenna Coleman stay or go on “Doctor Who“? The BBC is not exactly saying. Instead, they are doing the smart thing for them business-wise, and trying to use the rumors as a nice little platform as a way to further convince people to watch the season 8 Christmas Special.

In case you are wondering what we are talking about here specifically, a report came out this week saying that Coleman was going to return for at least the first half of season 9 as Clara Oswald after having a change of heart, and deciding that she did not want to depart the show just yet.

Speaking to the Radio Times, though, this is all a spokesperson for the BBC would say citing the show’s frequent policy on rumors:

“This is speculation so we won’t be commenting … Viewers will have to watch the Christmas episode to find out!”

We suppose that this may still be viewed as good news by some, at least in that it does seem like the network is going to tie things together when it comes to Coleman’s future during the special. What makes that somewhat confusing is this: If Coleman changed her mind about leaving, and the Christmas Special makes Clara’s fate clear, then she would have had to made this choice many weeks ago, when this special was still filming. Otherwise, the ending would infer that we would be saying goodbye to her.

This is all of course using the belief that the initial reports about Clara departing the show were correct, given that they may not have been.

We’ll keep you posted on the subject of Clara’s future, but for now, we would advise you to head over here if you want to get some more TV news on all we cover transmitted in your direction every week. (Photo: BBC.)
