Is ‘Doctor Who’ season 8, episode 13 new tonight?
Last weekend, “Doctor Who” decided to give us a heck of a remarkable episode of television in “Death in Heaven.” Not only did they continue along the tremendous story of the Master, but they also gave us a story that suggested that the Doctor and Clara Oswald may be getting close to going about their own independent lives.
Clearly, times have changed for many of these characters, and it does set the stage for what could be a heck of a brilliant tapestry moving forward to the final episode of this season.
Unfortunately, you’re not going to be seeing that for at least a little while longer. What’s the reason for that? It comes down to the fact that the last episode is the Christmas Special. As you would assume, this means that the episode is going to air at around Christmastime.
As for some of our individual expectations for this particular installment, we hope that Nick Frost really delivers as Father Christmas, and we see a variety of fun / interesting developments for all of our favorite characters. This is “Doctor Who,” after all, and there is a tremendous amount of room for creativity from all of our favorite characters.
Let’s just hope that this meets the expectations and hopes that we’ve developed now, given that we had a heck of a great time watching Peter Capaldi and Michelle Gomez square off.

Actually, the Christmas special isn’t part of the season. After Season 7 broke the pattern by making the Christmas special part of the season, they’ve gone back to standalones. Thus the special won’t be the finale of Season 8, nor will it launch Season 9. We know this because the BBC is releasing the “Complete Series 8” DVD set in late November/early December (UK/North America) without it.
