NBC’s ‘Constantine’ episode 5 preview: Could John, Papa Midnite team up?
Tonight, “Constantine” aired a new episode that was all sorts of intense, and also gave us at least a decent dose of the Papa Midnite character. Do we wish still that the first half of the episode was paced up to be a little quicker? Probably, since this show has not completely found itself just yet. Matt Ryan is tremendous, and while there were great visuals throughout this, we do find ourselves wanting more. (With that being said, “Hellblazer” fans probably found a lot to like here as a whole.)
So where is the story heading next? What we can tell you right now about the next new episode is that the title for it is “Danse Vaudou,” and we could actually see Midnite and John join forces for some sort of case. There will be some crazy-cool happenings involving voodoo, and at least for now, this sounds like a story we can sign off on.

“In New Orleans, Constantine’s (Matt Ryan) unusual knowledge of a string of crimes gets him into trouble with Detective Jim Corrigan (guest star Emmett Scanlan). He must form an unholy alliance with Papa Midnite (guest star Michael James Shaw) when a voodoo ritual to help people communicate with their dead loved ones takes a deadly turn.”
One other thing that we are looking to see tomorrow? It’s none other than the state of “Constantine’s” ratings. The series did recover somewhat last week following its Halloween outing, and we can hope that it will keep reasonably steady right now. We don’t imagine NBC having huge expectations in this timeslot, but it still needs to fare decently.
