‘Homeland’ season 4, episode 7 preview: Can Saul talk down his captor
On Sunday night’s new episode of “Homeland,” one thing is going to be pretty clear: Saul has his work cut out for him.
The show is always more interesting when Mandy Patinkin’s character is in the thick of things, and on this episode, he is going to have quite the enormous challenge. After all, he has to figure out how in the world he is going to be able to make it through being captured, and to empathize with someone he cannot completely relate to.
At first, Saul tries to make a very specific argument in an attempt to save his hide. Namely, he wants to make it clear that he is not of a whole lot of value when it comes to intelligence. He is somewhat out of the look, and thanks to that, the majority of what he knows is supposedly ineffective … with the emphasis here on the word “supposedly.”
Unfortunately, this doesn’t quite work out very well for him.
The good news for Saul is that we know that he is an extremely smart man, and capable of really talking his way out of almost any situation that he comes into. This is really what he is going to have to do in this position if he wants to survive and get back with Carrie or anyone else in the team.
Do we think that he is capable of it? Sure, but it is going to take a whole lot of patience, and we’re not sure that he will be able to even figure it out within the confines of this episode.
