‘How to Get Away with Murder’ spoilers: ‘Trophy Wife’ alum snags important role
The first nine episodes of ABC’s “How to Get Away with Murder” are going to focus on bringing us to the night of Sam’s murder, and how some of these characters went from law students to somehow wrapped up in a giant, super-confusing conspiracy.
Well, we now at least have our first little taste of casting news for the second part of this season airing on ABC next year. Per sources, Marcia Gay Harden, a recent series regular for “Trophy Wife” and guest star on “The Newsroom,” is going to be around for a reasonably-important role early in the final six episodes of the show. In a fashion that was reasonably invented by “Scandal,” another Shonda Rhimes show on the network, details about her character are not being made available.
Moving forward, we would not be particularly shocked if this show ends up becoming a haven for many other important guest stars, if for no other reason than a matter of pedigree. You have someone in Viola Davis on board here who is almost assured an Emmy nomination, and to go along with that, you have the best ratings for any new series this fall. This is similar to “The Blacklist” last year, at least in that you have a home that is very attractive for almost anyone to stop by.
Unfortunately, there is not a whole lot of time for guest stars to pay a visit this year, given that there is only 15 episodes this season. Maybe this will change for season 2, but it is not at the moment.
