‘Arrow’ season 3, episode 2 spoilers: Katie Cassidy on Laurel’s current transformation

Laurel -Tonight on The CW, we are going to have one of the most significant episodes of “Arrow” to date, and the title for it is simple: “Sara.” Obviously, the story here is going to be pretty straightforward: Dealing with the aftermath of tragedy, coming in the form of a beloved character’s death.

So how will each character react to no longer having Sara in this world? While it will be devastating, it will give many characters a further sense of purpose. This could be especially true for Laurel Lance, given that so many comic-book fans know already where this story is going.

Before tonight’s episode, Katie Cassidy hinted to TVLine that the journey towards the character being the Black Canary is coming, and Oliver Queen is also going to realize in the process that she is capable of taking on this role:

“What happens to Sara, whether she lives or not, is a tragedy. In Season 2, we saw Laurel hit rock bottom; let’s hope that she doesn’t have to do it a second time. She will seek revenge, and that will motivate her to adopt more of that fighter/warrior mentality, and give her what it takes. Oliver is skeptical at first, but I think that he, hopefully, will come to respect her for it, and recognize that she has it.”

There is still one other part of this equation, though, that we are waiting to find out, and that is whether or not Laurel will find out who she is targeting anytime soon. After all, we are still trying to learn the identity of the one responsible for Sara’s death.
