‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 11: Could Ellen Pompeo quit acting after end of season?
You may not find the following terribly surprising, but that does not make it any less true: Ellen Pompeo may decide to step away from acting altogether once her time on “Grey’s Anatomy” comes to an end.
The reason why we say this isn’t a shock is because we’ve seen the actress already sell projects to other networks, and she seems to be going more into the producing world. Maybe she’s watched what Shonda Rhimes has done the past few years,
Pompeo first made these comments in a roundtable interview per BuzzFeed, where she explained the way her mind works right now as follows:
“I definitely don’t have a strong desire to act after Grey’s. I definitely feel myself transitioning. I don’t find acting terribly empowering,”
Pompeo added that there may be a part of her brain that feels like she “has something to prove” constantly, and after being the star of one of the most-popular dramas of the past decade, she doesn’t quite feel like she really has to prove anything in this field anymore.
Another reason we’re sure Ellen may be thinking about this? It is hardly like she feels a pressing need to urgently make money as an actor. She’s under contract with “Grey’s Anatomy” until the end of season 12, and has made a considerable amount of cash being on the show. That gives her the flexibility to really do anything she wants to with her career. We also could not blame her if she wanted to find a way to get into producing, while at the same time setting a new schedule for herself. This is one of the most-demanding series on all of television.
