‘Bachelor in Paradise’ season 2: Will ABC’s summer trainwreck be renewed?
To us, there is little debate the pure trainwreck factor of “Bachelor in Paradise.” The show was completely all over the place basically from start to finish, and it was a constant source for fighting, cynicism, hookups, and more.
Basically, the show was a slightly-less-sleazy (but still sleazy) version of “Bachelor Pad” minus the cash prize. It also got good enough ratings to be the #1 new show for ABC this summer, easily clobbering the likes of “Rising Star” and “The Quest” to the point where it was not even close.
With this being said, we feel almost like another go-around for “Bachelor in Paradise” has to be a given. Even though this show was not a runaway smash by any means, it still performed well enough to earn itself the respect of ABC.
Plus, there is potential for this show to be even more successful moving forward now that the producers know that this concept can work … but the biggest thing that they have to focus on from here on out is trying to find a way to get an even bigger and better cast. This is going to be the key here, to figure out how in the world to get people on board who are incredibly controversial, interesting, and memorable. This may mean at times adding a few villains to the mix, but there are people associated with this franchise who we think fans of the show would like to see. Think in terms of runner-ups, or even former “Bachelor” or “Bachelorette” stars who may now be single.
Hopefully, we will have some official word on the show’s future soon.
