‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 6 spoilers: See the official synopsis now via The CW

Want to know how The CW is selling “The Vampire Diaries” season 6? To put it in the frankest terms, it’s a tale about loss and loneliness … at least at first. Damon and Bonnie are perceived to be dead, and to make matters worse for most of the Mystic Falls supernatural population, they no longer have the ability to go back home again.

The network just released their full synopsis for season 6, and if you look below, you can see a while assortment of the events that are coming up:

“Months after this devastating tragedy, everyone is dealing with the loss of their loved ones in different ways, some more destructively than others. What happened to Bonnie and Damon, and if they can even be saved, remains a mystery. Meanwhile, their beloved hometown of Mystic Falls continues to be a magic-free zone, protected by a mysterious new community watch program. If there’s any hope of salvaging their former lives, our heroes must find a way to push through their grief and band together. This season will explore themes of loss, denial and what it means to move on in the face of immortality, ultimately begging the age-old question – can you ever really go home again?”

If this show does follow the same pattern that so many others have over the years, then we imagine that the largest problem here is going to be simple enough: Just trying to find a way to ensure that equilibrium is re-established again at some point. What we mean is that we eventually expect the characters to all be together again, and for Mystic Falls to fall apart and the spell to be broken.
