‘Dancing with the Stars’ 19 spoilers: Bethany Mota, Lea Thompson, and ‘Mean Girls’ star

The cast of “Dancing with the Stars” is close to being about finalized based on all the reports coming in, and the group that the show has come up with is … interesting. If nothing else, they are at least checking off most of the boxes.

According to TMZ, the producers of the show got what they wanted in a female YouTube star in Bethany Mota. She has 7 million subscribers, posts frequent videos about fashion and beauty for young people, and seems to be on here mostly to bring in that young crowd. Maybe this will work? It’s hard to say; while other really shows have cast YouTubers before, this is one of the first times that they’ve been given a “celebrity” label going in.

Also reportedly joining the show this year is “Back to the Future” star Lea Thompson, designer Betsey Johnson (imagine those outfits for the ballroom now), and “Mean Girls” actor Jonathan Bennett. We’ve seen “Mean Girls” once around a year or so after it came out, and we have no recollection of who this guy. (Update: We just Googled him, and apparently he was the main guy Aaron Samuels.)

This show really seems to be trying to appeal to that younger generation this year, given that we also have “Bachelorette” Andi Dorfman and “Duck Dynasty” daughter Sadie Robertson among the reported cast members already. We cannot blame the show for the youth movement, since it has been skewing very old, and if that continues, could be in danger of cancellation. They have to do something, and they cannot really get bigger stars without going over-budget.
