‘Hell on Wheels’ season 4, episode 5 preview: ‘Life’s a Mystery’ for Anson Mount, cast

Tonight, “Hell on Wheels” gave us a pretty darn good indicator of how rough things are right now for Cullen Bohannon and all of Cheyenne. John Campbell is practically making the down into an evil empire, and it’s still to be seen if anyone is going to be able to fully stop the progress of government. (Spoiler alert: History teaches us that this “wild west” will only stay that way so long, but that doesn’t necessarily mean bad things for Cullen and company.)

The title for next weekend’s installment is “Life’s a Mystery,” and there are still many mysteries left over on the show … and one of them that is addressed in the synopsis below has nothing to do with Anson Mount’s character at all:

“A stranger’s arrival stirs up old feelings in Cullen and puts his family at risk. Meanwhile, the Swede faces consequences at Fort Smith.”

The Swede is one of the show’s most-notorious villains, and thanks to this, you have to wonder this: What in the world is going to happen to him? Given the guy’s survival instincts so far, we would be shocked to see him killed off four episodes into the season. Will we meet Brigham Young? He is coming to offer up “judgment,” and the only hope Christopher Heyerdahl’s character may have is if he planned this out.

The other thing you have to be nervous about right now is Cullen’s own relationship, given that he and Naomi are already starting to fall apart.
