‘Doctor Who’ season 8, episode 1 preview: What to expect from ‘Deep Breath’
Can you believe that we are almost to the arrival of “Doctor Who” season 8? At this time in just over 24 hours, viewers in the United Kingdom are going to get an opportunity for the first time to see Peter Capaldi as the 12th Doctor, and find out just what sort of version of the character he is going to be.
Before you get to that point, though, why not share a few things to expect from this first episode? We’re not so cruel as to give away any major spoilers, but we will at least give you a few specific things to look forward to.
- Love dinosaurs? Then you will probably love this episode quite a bit. You really are going to see all sorts of time travel in here.
- If there aren’t enough Daleks in this one to make you happy, just remember that episode 2 is entitled “Into the Dalek.”
- The run time for this episode is almost long enough for it to be considered a mini-movie, so be prepared for that.
- The Doctor’s relationship with Clara is going to be an evolving process on the series, and you still start to learn through this that she is not going to feel so wistful or impressed as she was with the version played by Matt Smith.
- Expect action, whimsy, and a few surprises. While you may have a new face of the operation now, this is still the same Doctor that you’ve come to know and love. Not all things are going to change.
After this episode airs, be sure to come back here! That is where we will have not only a full review of the next installment, but also a preview of what is coming up.
