‘Covert Affairs’ season 5 spoilers: ‘Bates Motel’ star joins; plus, a preview

We’re going to share a couple of different things today when it comes to “Covert Affairs” season 5, but let’s begin with the latest from the world of casting.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, the USA drama has managed to book for “Bates Motel” star Kenny Johnson for an arc in the second half of the season, playing a one-time paramilitary operative who has a great sense of self and a moral compass that guides him to the right thing the vast majority of the time. We just hope that this cements him as one of the good guys.

Given that it is going to be a while before we see Johnson in action, though, why not stop for a minute and preview the more immediate future? The new episode next week carries with it the title of “Sensitive Euro Man,” and it sounds already like this is going to be a tough episode for Auggie to swallow. Just take a look at the official synopsis below:

“Annie helps McQuaid accomplish a tough mission against Auggie’s wishes. As a threat on U.S. soil appears imminent, Hayley becomes more dogged in her pursuit of the truth.”

This show has continued to fire on all cylinders this season, and we refuse to believe that Auggie and Annie are going to be at odds forever. The show’s just no fun when they are! The thing to remember here is that there is so much more to come on this show beyond what we have this summer.
