TV Quick Hits: NBC’s ‘A to Z’ pilot online; ‘Meet the Press’ changes; Kurt Braunohler show
Changes over at “Meet the Press” – Are we going to see a hosting change at NBC? It appears so, following a number of rumors that David Gregory will be leaving his post. According to CNN’s Brian Stelter, Gregory could leave the show as soon as this weekend, and ultimately be replaced by NBC political director Chuck Todd.
We imagine that the struggle for these shows is mostly just finding a way to appeal to the massing. Twenty years ago, “Meet the Press” was a valuable institution; now, it is just one face in a sea of them covering difficult political topics.
Watch “A-Z” pilot online – Are you interested in getting into pilot season early? In an effort to build buzz, NBC has placed the full pilot for their comedy, featuring Ben Feldman (“Mad Men”) and Cristin Milioti (“How I Met Your Mother”), online early. We’re definitely not complaining about this, given that we are all about people getting a chance to make early impressions on shows they like / dislike.
With that being said, we are a little surprised that the show is being put online so early! Why the rush to get this out there for people to watch so early?
Kurt Braunohler’s Comedy Central project – Could Comedy Central make their late-night block into a two-hour affair? We wonder, thanks mostly to the news that the network has ordered an official pilot for “Gettin’ Some Strange with Kurt Braunohler.” Braunohler is a comedian who has regularly appeared on “@midnight,” and thanks to his other work we know him to be a very funny man indeed. That is why we hope that this ultimately works out pretty well for him.
