‘Hell on Wheels’ season 4, episode 2 reaction: Anson Mount, producers react to Cullen’s move

Hell on Wheels -On Saturday night’s episode of “Hell on Wheels,” we had what we would argue was one of the greatest scenes in the history of the AMC show. Not only that, but Anson Mount and Christopher Heyerdahl give performances that blew our minds.

So in the sneak peek below, you can hear Mount, executive producer John Wirth, and more describe the intricate planning that went into that scene, and how Cullen Bohannon worked to play into the ego of the man secretly known as The Swede. In between seasons 3 and 4, our hero worked tirelessly to make this “religious leader” start to believe that some of his thoughts and opinions were ultimately changing. This lead to Cullen’s big escape.

We don’t want Naomi’s perspective to be lost in here, and Mackenzie Porter explains a little of her own character’s sense of idealism coming into this new world known as Cheyenne. She is leaving a community that she has known for all of her life, and there is excitement that comes with that. However, at the same time there is anxiety.

While you see newcomer to the show Jake Weber explain John Campbell and his motives for running the new Cheyenne, the preview ends with how Cullen is going to have to deal with the presumed death of Elam, the one person he was hoping to see the most. (SPOILERS AHEAD.) It has already been confirmed that Common will return at some point this season, but there are still questions as to how that happens, and what the true effects of this bear attack are on him.
