‘Game of Thrones’ season 5: George R.R. Martin on life, involvement on show, and more
George R.R. Martin is in a way a man with many lives. There is the side of him that is at this point now a celebrity, and travels all around the world to speak at conventions and give interviews. Then, there is the part of him that is wrapped in the world of the TV show, and the part of him that is the author. This is what he is concentrating on the most right now, to the point where he is not writing a “Game of Thrones” season 5 episode in an effort to ensure that he finishes his new book The Winds of Winter at some point in the near future.
Martin is also a resident of Santa Fe, New Mexico, and spends his time there writing and away from most of the spectacle of the world. He was featured in the latest edition of a local show “New Mexico in Focus,” and it is a pretty fascinating watch. There’s obviously talk about living in the state, but he also touches on writing, how he is not as involved on the show as he would like to be, and also how much his life has changed over the past several years.
We’ve said this before, but there is a part of us that feels for Martin. Sure, he’s got a ton of money and also admiration from millions of people, but he also has to continually deal with people online demanding that the next book comes out immediately, and other who complain about him getting older and wondering if the story will ever be completely told. Can’t the guy live a little while he writes?
