NBC’s ‘The Voice’: Cee Lo Green explains his reason for departure

Cee Lo Green -

There have been rumors surrounding why Cee Lo Green and “The Voice” parted ways almost from the moment that the announcement was made, but he has now went ahead and made his own side of the story pretty clear: He simply did not feel the same fire to take part in the show that he once did.

Speaking in a new interview with Us Weekly, Green proclaims that the real reason that he decided to not take on the show anymore was him ultimately not really having an interest in the schedule and the rigors of it:

“It easily and quickly became a job. [It was] very, very obligating… Taxing and tiring… I still tip my hat to Adam and Blake and those guys who continuously do it, but I think I ran my course there just naturally.

“Amicably, we parted ways. I’ve got some very great memories there. It really has everything to do with me having the leverage to go elsewhere and be a success as well.”

Regardless of whatever Cee Lo or anyone else says, it feels pretty clear to us that him leaving was probably the right thing. You could see it on him throughout this past season that his head just didn’t seem to be in the game. He looked exhausted, and his team members did not fare particularly well while there were some negative headlines out there in the press.

Cee Lo gave some advice, as well, for new coaches Gwen Stefani and Pharrell Williams to “pace themselves,” and we figure that they will be all right with that. We’ve seen the two show off plenty of energy in the new promo for the show, and they have personalities that should mesh very well with the production around them.
