‘The View’: Barbara Walters vows that show WILL go on
You certainly cannot tell Barbara Walters that “The View” is going to be ending anytime in the near future. Instead, she will just continue to fight on for the show’s survival.
Despite the fact that there are many out there who want to just see the show take a vow at this point, and that the entire panel is almost gutted now with the exception of Whoopi Goldberg, the show’s founder / executive producer (who will continue to hold that title despite her retirement) is still committed to making sure that there are people to take on the role in the future. She just is not sure who those people are as of yet.
Speaking on this subject in a new interview with “Extra,” Walters had the following to say:
“I don’t know. … I’m not sure. I know The View will continue. I don’t think we have a new direction yet. I think we have time.”
This will be an interesting / possibly nerdy comparison to make for many of you out there, but we would personally like to see a strategy employed here that parallels the search for a Doctor on “Doctor Who.” Rather than worrying about whether or not there are certain demographics that are checked off and if the panel is all women, just cast for who you think are the right people for the role. Doing anything else may lead to getting a panel together without chemistry, and this will attract viewers far more in the long run than getting some big names out of the gate who ultimately do not get along.
We will have some further updates about this search as we get closer and closer to the start of the new season this fall, so be on the lookout for that. Also, be sure to sign up to get some additional information via our CarterMatt Newsletter.
