‘Pretty Little Liars’ season 5, episode 4 preview: Spencer struggles for the truth

If there is one thing that we have learned about “Pretty Little Liars” over the years, it is that Spencer Hastings probably has one of the worst living situations out there. While her family may have a nice home and plenty of money, this is clearly not a case where money buys happiness.

Instead, it feels more like this family is in a state of perpetual distress with lies flying around like they are pleasantries after getting up in the morning. In the sneak peek below from Thursday night’s new episode, the one good thing we can say is that it at least appears like someone is trying to be somewhat-truthful to Spencer. That person is her mother. Unfortunately, she is dealing with the combination of not knowing everything herself, and also having a husband who really wants to keep everything from everyone.

What is with this guy? Seriously, there are some moments here that feel like he doesn’t want Spencer to know a single thing that is going on in the world. Also, he seems to be perfectly fine with the fact that there is a freakin’ dead body outside belonging to his next-door neighbor. The discovery of Jessica DiLaurentis changing things drastically, given now there is a new murder to solve in Rosewood, and the detectives and the coroner’s office will continue to earn a paycheck. At this point, these people have to be getting enough of an income that they are almost as wealthy as Spencer’s dad.
