‘Girl Meets World’ episode 2: What comes next for Cory, Riley, and Topanga?

Tonight marks the special preview for “Girl Meets World” over on the Disney Channel, and while we felt like the pilot was rather uneven, that is not going to stop some of you diehard fans of the franchise when it comes to being excited about the future. Everyone knows, after all, that some of the hardest episodes for a comedy to pull off are the early ones. That is when it is still trying to figure out its tone, and also its own identity that is separate from the “Boy Meets World” series that so many loved.

Well, here’s what we can tell you now about the next new episode, entitled “Girl Meets Friendship.” It is going to continue to focus very much on the friendship between Riley and Maya, especially in terms of how it began. This is also going to be the first episode to really give the younger child Auggie something interesting to do after being basically a paperweight in the pilot. Here is the official description courtesy of the House of Mouse:

“Riley and Maya think back on the past and how they became best friends. Meanwhile, Cory and Topanga get notes from Auggie’s teacher saying that he’s been bad at school.”

What we can tell you about the rest of the season is that Riley and Auggie will have episodes themed around each other, you will see the return of many “Boy Meets World” favorites including Rider Strong, and there are going to be some plots that are centered more around the adults than the children. The homages that you saw in the pilot are not going to be the only ones in the series.
