ABC’s ‘Revenge’ season 4 spoilers: Shock character promoted to series regular

Just in case you were wondering whether or not the appearance of a certain someone at the end of the “Revenge” season 3 finale was just a one-time thing or an introduction to something so much greater, we now have an official answer for you. Obviously, there are spoilers ahead for those who are a little behind on the series.

According to a new report from TVLine, James Tupper has been promoted to series regular for the upcoming fourth season in his role as David Clarke, who returned at the end of the finale and seemingly put Conrad Grayson in the ground (at least metaphorically). This promotion was somewhat-expected, mostly because he has already recurred throughout the three-season run, and the twist did not lead us to think that this was going to be like Emily Thorne’s mother where she just showed up for a couple of weeks before disappearing again.

David obviously has many scores to settle in the Hamptons, but what is just as interesting as all of that to us is figuring out more of what he has been up to over the past few years, and whether or not the reality of who he is differs significantly from the person that Emily Thorne thinks that he is. This will be explored at length, and hopefully there is no concrete answer. With this show, things are so much more interesting when they are complicated, at least provided that they continue to make a certain semblance of sense.
