‘NCIS’ season 12 spoilers: Dates to remember, questions, and more
We are now firmly entrenched in the “NCIS” offseason, and we are also at a certain point in the process where it is difficult to pass along too much in the way of new information. This article is meant more to be an “important dates to know” piece, and to also introduce something we’ve been hyping up for a while.
Dates to know – While there is no official production date for season 12 available publicly, late July / early August is the norm for almost all scripted TV shows on major networks. The writing process will start many weeks before that, and there have already been some assorted things here and there that have been brought up.
As for the premiere date, think either September 23 or 30, depending on what week CBS wants to start things off. Even though there are changes in the schedule thanks in part to the moving NFL football to Thursday nights, it will not have any impact on the way that CBS wants to air the rest of its new episodes.
Talk “NCIS” with us! – Earlier this month, we promised on Twitter to do some sort of Q&A taking on all of your big questions related to the show, and we’re going to be doing that next week! Send us a question between now and June 1 either in the comments below, or on Twitter using the hashtag #CarterMattNCIS. We’ll pick ten that we find particularly interesting and try to discuss them further.
Remember: Ask about anything you want! We’ll discuss anything from ratings to cast members and more. Just know that there aren’t a whole lot of spoilers out there to give for a show that has not been written yet.

1. Will we ever see Tim go back to writing – if not LJ Tibbs, then something else? Maybe a ‘B’ story could involve Deep Six being made into a movie.
2. Are there going to be more real-world, serious stories in S12, like Alleged and Shooter in S11?
3. Are Jimmy and Ducky going to be in S12 more? They didn’t seem to be around much in S11, with a couple of exceptions.

When are you going to get rid of Bishop? When is Ziva coming back? The show sucks without Ziva. Bring her back!

Please bring Ziva back! it all worked that team loved everyone of them; nothing against EW she just not working for me.

Is there a chance that the people in charge can come to an agreement with Ms de Pablo so that Ziva can come back at least for some guest appearances and that they realize their Bishop actress doesn’t fit at all (her acting skills and her fight scenes clearly show that she is not destined to play a field agent)?
Besides any chance that Mr. Glasberg reconsiders his soap opera ideas of a new romance for Tony? TIVA was special because of the rare chemistry of the actors but since every other character apart from the “not interesting at all Bishop character” is not in a relationship there is no need for that unless the producers want to get rid of the Tony fans who hoped for a TIVA happy ending some time in the future!

Ziva returning is an absolute MUST!!!..Bishop is OK as an analyst, but an embarassment as an agent. The show now has no sizzle and is losing viewers in the important demographics. We need Ziva/Cote back!!

Will Ziva be returning? Or will they finally stop pretending that the show is doing “great” without her?

Three words: Cote de Pablo.

Do you believe that if Ziva were to return, Ellie would have to leave? Or do you think the show could have a well-flowing dynamic with the both of them?

Are there any talks in progress with Cote de Pablo to bring Ziva back? How likely could this happen? Since the Bishop character was not well received do they plan to make any changes in the team?

1. Will there be a season 12 story arc and if so, what or who is involved?
2. We may meet Ellie Bishop’s husband next season, what else may we learn about her?

Yes they need to have her come back…. I missed, The team work and having fun together.. More guest stars lost that personal touch they had…Go back to the old format… To me they were forcing down our throats the new one, which had the show evolving all around her which caused more hate then love…

Love to know people’s thoughts on the following relating to S12?
1. Will we learn more about McGee’s father, last seen diagnosed with stage four cancer in S10?
2. Would be great to meet McGee’s mum.
3. I’d love to see a return to the old Gibbs/Tony relationship, briefly seen again in “The Admiral’s Daughter” when Gibbs called DiNozzo “Tony” to his face (ok on the phone) for the first time since S7’s “Flesh & Blood”!
4. If Mark Harmon is Exec’ing “NCIS-NOLA” due to be filmed in New Orleans and coming out of MH’s own production company, might he take a step back from NCIS after season 12, perhaps giving Michael Weatherly the chance to take centre stage a little more often, or will MW want to concentrate more on his own development deal with CBS?
5. Any likelihood we might see a flash back to Tony’s mother, or at least learn how she died?
6. Would love to see a scene where Tony stands up to Gibbs. They are both great actors – a confrontation could be amazing.
7. I’d like to see Tony in a relationship, ideally someone he meets as part of a case – a witness, a victim, someone who helps when undercover, a nurse when he winds up in hospital, the options are endless, rather than a random secretary or air hostess he meets off camera.
8. Loved the DiNozzo beard in “PPF”. Would love to see its return and Gibbs reaction when Tony won’t shave it off!
9. Would like to see a less “silly” Abby. I love here quirkiness but she’s a strong competent women. Hated how she fell apart with so little provocation in S10’s “Hit & Run”.
10. Why did we see so little of Palmer this season? Hope to see more of him and indeed Vance in S12.
11. Never understood why Palmer and Breena wanted to adopt a baby when there are so few babies to go round for those couples who are infertile – which Breena and Palmer obviously aren’t. Thought the idea was for them to adopt an older child.
12. I think it would be great if they mixed up the “partnerships” in some of the episodes. eg, a Palmer/Tony story? A Ducky/McGee story? Ducky/Tony? Abby/Tony?
13. Will Tony go under cover again?
14. Any chance of a much belated, and much desired, Gibbs/Tony episode – perhaps with them undercover together?
15. I’d like to see more emotion, more excitement, more jeopardy. No more scratched noses – does GG have a policy where Gibbs, McGee and particularly Tony, can sustain no more than a paper cut?
16. Will we see a return of the new Sec Nav, Sarah Porter, played by Leslie Hope? Thought she was a very interesting character with a hidden agenda, who had great chemistry with Gibbs. Was sorry when she disappeared so early in the season.
17. Any chance we might learn what Tony’s bargain with God was, mentioned way back in the Gary Glasberg written ep S9 “Engaged” pt 2. I’m still holding out for this one!
18. And can we please see/hear Tony play that damned beautiful grand piano, and I don’t mean chopsticks – Michael Weatherly is an accomplished pianist – if they weren’t going to let him play it, why give Tony a piano?!

Here’s my question for consideration: Will Tony ever have a crime related arc again that gives Michael Weatherly an opportunity to flex his considerable acting muscles? And two follow ups: Are the only two characters who tptb care about Gibbs and Bishop now? And – Will Tony ever be allowed to move on from “tiva” or is the character doomed to continued stagnation because it is to the show’s advantage to keep the “will Ziva return” debate alive?

Hi, all season long I have posted to NCIS about Ziva possibly coming back sooner than later. Am I just wishing for something may not happen?

Hi Matt,
I wanted to follow up on a point you mentioned in your wish list for Season 12 – crossovers with NCIS NOLA and NCIS Los Angeles.
I thought the Bellisario lawsuit precluded any further crossover with NCIS LA? Am I wrong on that?
And, most importantly, is there any interest at all on the part of Glasberg/Harmon in working with Brennan and the crew from NCIS LA – and vice versa? I’d LOVE to see the three shows interact both in a multi-part series, and in smaller ways throughout the season (guest appearances by actors on one of the other shows, or characters referenced in passing by name).
Conversely, is there a possibility of one of the NCIS shows crossing over with another CBS drama? NCIS with Criminal Minds or CSI: Cyber would be very interesting, and Sam Hanna working with Steve McGarrett on a joint OSP/Five-0 case would be a fun ride!
