‘Bones’ season 10: What we’d like to see from David Boreanaz, Emily Deschanel next

Tonight, “Bones” may be ending for the next few months, but the good news going into the final already is that we know that this does not mark the end for good. The Fox series will return to the air this fall for a landmark tenth season … which may or may not be its last.

While there have been some claims at times that this will be the end of the show, this is not something that was discussed heavily at the upfronts and we therefore have to leave it as a partial unknown for the time being. It was announced, though, that the show will be back on its old Thursday-night home for the first time in a while, and we’re reasonably psyched about that … though not so much when you consider everything that it will be airing against. (Ratings,wise, we actually thought Friday was a good landing spot for it.)

Given that it is impossible to predict things about scripts that have not been written just yet, think of this article instead as a list of suggestions of things that we would love to see moving into this big season.

A huge new adversary – The end of the Ghost Killer saga was such a letdown for us, given that we thought it could be the next Pelant. Since Booth and Brennan have so much of their personal lives worked out, they need other stakes and other things to be concerned about.

New circumstances – David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel have already figured out almost as many different layers to these characters as there can possibly be. How do you expand that further? This is something that we are interested to see unfold. Let’s see them in new situations and in new places! We always love the undercover missions, for example.

More Sweets – How about giving the guy more than just 2 or 3 really big episodes this time? Those were actually very strong, and he could use another couple.

Start winding down – We don’t feel like season 10 has to be the end, but outside of Booth and Brennan being married and happy, we would like to know where the story is ultimately going in broad terms. Is Booth going to be locked in to a job, and this is just what their future will be? We’re excited to discuss things like that.
