Jimmy Kimmel goes after ‘Bachelor’ Juan Pablo Galavis, ‘Gotham,’ and ‘CSI: Cyber’ at upfronts
The upfronts in New York City have many traditions these days, but one of our personal favorite ones these days is reading about how Jimmy Kimmel made fun of both other networks and his own at ABC’s annual presentation. Somehow, the network has figured out how to have a good enough sense of humor so that this is okay, and nobody gets their feelings hurt.
Granted, most of Jimmy’s jokes this time around were targeted a little more towards some of the new shows from other networks … but he did not ignore an opportunity to completely skewer Juan Pablo Galavis as “The Bachelor.” Take a look at our three favorite zingers below.
1. On the new CBS strategy amidst falling ratings – “CBS did not have a good year… They almost didn’t beat us this year, but they’re sticking to what they do best. They’re adding another CSI [in] CSI: Cyber. I guess there’s still an audience for this. People who watch CBS are like Sasquatch; I’ve heard reports that they exist but I’ve never actually seen one.”
2. On Juan Pablo – “We made history this year with Juan Pablo Galavis, our first non-white Bachelor … everyone hated him so we’re never doing that again.”
3. On Fox’s upcoming “Gotham” series – “From what I can tell, this is a show who love everything about Batman, except Batman. You know that part of the story that’s so boring every Batman movie skips right past it? Well now that’s a series. We’ll get to see the Dark Knight’s testicles descend every week.”
All of this is good stuff, but the laugh may still be on ABC, given that they finished this TV season behind most of their major competition in fourth place. Also, Kimmel is losing to Jimmy Fallon at present in the ratings.
