‘NCIS’ season 11, episode 23 review: Michael Weatherly, ‘The Admiral’s Daughter’ surprise

NCIS -

On the surface, it looked like “The Admiral’s Daughter” was going to be a pretty straightforward episode of “NCIS” … and also one that was strictly based on humor. Granted, there were still some great moments in here when it comes to watching Tony get on board a party bus, but there was some good drama in here too.

Cheers to Michael Weatherly for this episode, since he got to show off so many different sides to his character. there was party Tony, serious Tony, and action hero Tony. All of these versions of these characters rolled straight into one! It was also a dramatic version of “Planes, Trains, and Automobiles” that was all about the character’s journey back to America with an oh-so valuable asset.

Of course, while all of this was going on, there was still a search for him going on back at the primary NCIS branch. Director Vance, Gibbs, and Bishop all worked hard to find a way to extract him, and get the daughter back safe. This is not your typical sort of case. It wasn’t necessarily one that changes the game for the series, but it’s great to see Tony as action hero, and the Admiral’s Daughter Amanda to prove herself to be so much more than just a party girl.

In the end, the story did of course have a pretty successful end for the team, but not without consequences. Tony was forced to shoot an attacker, though he made it back to headquarters reasonably unscathed. It’s all in a days’ work, and we were glad to see Tony back out there.

Also, Jimmy’s going to be a dad! Nice way to close this out. Grade:B+.
