TV Quick Hits: ‘Gotham’ ordered; ‘Orange Is the New Black,’ ‘Salem’ renewed
This edition of TV Quick Hits is truly quick, since the announcements are all revolving around either orders or renewals that are going on for some of the shows that have gotten plenty of buzz the past few months.
“Gotham” ordered officially – This is something that most everyone thought had probably already happened the moment Fox decided to make a Commissioner Gordon origin story. “Gotham” is one of the hottest fall projects out there, and it will follow the recent Fox model of having a shorter season that it can pack full of great stories and content.
“Salem” renewed – WGN America has given the green light for more of their first original series, which has scored solid ratings ever since coming on the air a few weeks ago. The early renewal signals that they are committed to really ensuring that viewers have an opportunity to catch this show and are, shall we say, bewitched by it.
The same for “Orange Is the New Black” – The biggest surprise when it comes to this series is mostly that it has yet to even premiere season 2 on Netflix. That will happen later this summer. This is just a show of extreme confidence that the writers and the producers are going in the right direction in making interesting, compelling programming. Here’s to hoping that we see so much more of it.
“The Comeback” returning – For Lisa Kudrow fans, know this: “The Comeback” is officially coming back, as HBO has agreed to revive the cult favorite. Commence your rejoicing! Right now, it is being billed as a “six-episode limited series” airing in the fall.
We’ll of course have some more TV Quick Hits stories as soon as there is some more great stuff to report on. Stay tuned!
