‘The Walking Dead’ season 5 adds another actor from ‘The Wire’
Clearly, someone within the “Walking Dead” family really loves “The Wire,” almost to the point where they are casting actors left and right from the awesome / underrated show. First, it was Chad Coleman as Tyreese, and it was then after that Lawrence Gilliard Jr. as Bob.
So who is the latest man joining the fold? It’s none other than the man who played Ellis in Seth Gilliam, who has signed on to be a series regular in the fifth season. However, few details have been handed down at the moment. The name initially listed on the casting sheets was “Michael,” but that is most likely a fake name to throw some people off of the scent.
There are some comic characters that could possibly fill the role here, including a certain preacher in the comic who shows up at around this time. However, we are hesitant to go down the rabbit hole that far thanks to the fact that the show has brought on original characters before, and there is therefore no real guarantee that Gilliam is going to be playing anyone from Robert Kirkman’s original creation at all.
This week marks the beginning of “The Walking Dead” season 5 production in Atlanta, with the new season starting up on AMC this fall. Gilliam is hardly the only new actor joining the show, but you may have to wait for a little while longer to find out who some of the other notable names are. The show will most likely premiere once again in October, so there is a little bit of time to figure out who else could join.
