‘Survivor: Cagayan’ preview: Tony (and his spy shack) vs. the world

Tony Vlachos -There are few things that we have enjoyed more in the “Survivor” promo world than seeing Tony run around to music that’s designed to sound like the James Bond theme. You can luckily see that below!

Wednesday night’s episode of “Survivor: Cagayan” is called “Sitting in My Spy Shack,” which has us both spontaneously excited and worried. On the “excited” side of things, it’s a chance to actually see the spy shack used effectively! It’s a hilarious idea, and we admittedly thought it was insane when he came up with it; now, it’s kind of brilliant from both a strategy and branding (#spyshack) perspective. The guy has built a resume for another appearance like nobody’s business, and we do root for him because he plays this game so hard and with passion.

Here’s where we are worried: Often, CBS gives episode titles to people voted out on that episode. “Sitting in My Spy Shack” is clearly a Tony quote, and he even says in the promo that he’s “in trouble” after Jefra tells Trish she has no problem getting him out of the game. To be fair, though, there have been episode titles already this season that were Tony quotes and he survived them; we suppose that we’re probably just traumatized by Tyson’s boot episode from Tocantins being called “It’s Funny When People Cry,” which was one of his best quotes.

We’ll make a full assessment of Tony’s game later this week in our contestant rankings, but he has his work cut out for it. He made a big move getting rid of LJ, but he did it without the support of many other people save for maybe Woo. Unfortunately, we don’t know if Mr. Ninja Stealth Mode hurt himself enough falling out of the tree that he was medically evacuated. If he was, then Tony’s closest pals right now may be the two Brains and Jeremiah … who he literally just bonded with the week before. (Granted, this is from the TV viewer side of things, and we can only go on what we’re shown.)

Do you think Tony’s spy shack is going to burn to the ground in this episode, and he’ll be forced to bring his personality to the jury? Sound off below, and click here to read more of what LJ had to say about Tony blindsiding him from our interview with him.
