‘The Vampire Diaries’ spoilers: A guy (not Damon or Stefan) to have new season 6 romance
Could it be true that Matt Donovan actually gets to fall in love with someone? Hearing the sole thought of this story is in a way surprising, mostly because there are few other characters on “The Vampire Diaries” that have been left in the lurch on this same exact level.
Before we get to the good / glorious news about this, let’s start off here with what will be the bad for some of you: You’re going to have to wait for a little while to see this story unfold. There are many reasons for this, but the primary one is that there’s too much to tell still in season 5, and the writers don’t just want to shoehorn something for Matt in just for the sake of doing so.
Speaking to Zap2It about what could lie ahead for the character next season, here is what executive producer Caroline Dries said that may have you very excited:
“We’re going to try something in Season 6 that we’ve been percolating on that I think will really help Matt’s storyline … It’s hard to give him these overarching love storylines because we’re just like, what’s the genre? Genre, genre, genre. It’s hard because we have like 40 hundred thousand characters on the show, you know? To give them all very interesting, dynamic story lines is hard but we have something planned for him.”
One of the other challenges for Matt may just be trying to figure out sometimes what to even do with a human on a character that is surrounded so much of the time by supernatural beings and things. Our personal hope is still just a “day in the life” story, where we get to see how a guy, knowing what is around him, puts on a good face, goes to work, and does his daily business. It would be such an interesting departure for the show, and inform the show’s setting to a great degree.
