‘House of Lies’ season 3 finale spoilers: See Marty, Jeannie, and the FBI
Tomorrow night on Showtime, “House of Lies” season 3 will wrap up on Showtime with an episode that definitely looks dramatic in every way possible … or at least as dramatic as a comedy can look.
Marty and Jeannie arrive back to Kaan & Associates to find out that they are in deep, deep trouble thanks to a raid from the FBI, who have a warrant that they are ready and willing to carry out. For Marty, this marks one of his worst possible fears: Helplessness. This is a guy who is so accustomed to being able to say that he has control of almost everything, and he is now going from that to having almost no control at all.
The worst-case scenario for Marty is simple: He loses the company, finds a way behind bars, or loses Jeannie from his life for good. While the two appear to be giving a relationship a go now (or at least something close to a relationship), this could be devastating. Jeannie clearly likes successful men; how will that relationship work if he suddenly has nothing?
While we say all of this, we still have a hard time imagining that Marty will close this season completely destitute with no one around him. His power and his actions are a source of the show’s comedy, and we don’t know how interesting watching Marty end up alone and sad would be beyond just a few minutes. Let’s hope that this finale does serve up some answers, given that you will not see any more of the show until 2015.
