ABC’s ‘Revenge’ season 3 spoilers: A returning character and a chat in jail

Who is returning to the world or “Revenge” for the new episode a week from Sunday? Well, let’s just say that it is someone who could be persuaded to be more than a little bit trouble to Emily Thorne: Mason Treadwell.

The last time that we saw this character, it was back during season 2 and he and Emily seemed to have some sort of understanding as he went behind bars. So what has changed now to cause him to chat with Victoria of all people? We’ve come up with what we feel are a few worthy theories:

1. Emily has put Mason up for this conversation, and he is going to be purposefully duplicitous as a new sort of double-agent for the cause.

2. Victoria is going to find a way to one-up any sort of arrangement Emily has with him, and recruit him for her own cause.

3. Mason has gone completely rogue, and spent some of his time in jail coming up with his own plan. To us, that is the most interesting option, since it marks at least an attempt to shake up the show further rather than just making it more about Emily vs. Victoria with various people clinging to each side of the battle.

Hopefully, things will be a little bit more obvious following the conclusion of Sunday night’s episode “Disgrace,” which features Emily’s latest attempt to get back at the Graysons at a casino event that she threw … using Daniel’s money.
