NBC’s ‘Community’ season 5, episode 11 video: First video of ‘G.I. Jeff’
The bad news today for “Community” fans? There is no new episode airing on NBC tonight, as the show has a brief one-week hiatus before coming back next week with the final three installments of season 5 (which we are hoping are not the last for the entire series).
At least we have a feeling that the wait will be worth it in “G.I. Jeff.” As someone who did not watch the “G.I. Joe” cartoon series, we have to admit that the novelty of this episode is not something that we are going to altogether get; but, when comparing the animation style to some other cartoons of the time, we imagine that it is a pretty accurate tribute-of-sorts. Plus, some of the lines in this sneak peek below are uproariously funny, including Abed trying to teach Britta about the right and wrong way to speak to kids who are watching syndicated cartoons.
For a little more insight into this episode, it was actually written by Starburns himself in Dino Stamatopoulos. While he has served on a consulting writer on dozens of episodes, the only other episode that he firmly has a “written by” credit for is another classic animated episode in “Abed’s Uncontrollable Christmas.”
Hopefully, this will help to establish an even greater sense of fun for the show, and further it along as it goes through some occasional growing pains. We’ve found it consistently funny all season long, but we do find ourselves missing Donald Glover just as much as we expected to (which translates to mean “a lot”). With that being said, it is coming off its best episode since Troy’s departure in “Advanced Advanced Dungeons and Dragons” (read our full review for it here).
