‘The X Factor’ UK spoilers: New rumors on Fergie, format change
“The X Factor” USA may no longer be on the air, but the series is still going strong in the United Kingdom. How much so? For one, it is still dominating the tabloids with rumor after rumor coming out there about judges and changes to the format.
The latest one that we have for you today comes courtesy of the Mirror, who claims that none other than Fergie potentially on the judging panel for the new season. She has connections to both fellow judges Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole thanks to will.i.am, and despite rumors about Cole not wanting another woman on the panel, she recently expressed that she would love to see another strong female performer up there with her throughout the new season.
The other big rumor out there comes courtesy of Metro, which suggests that Cole is bringing some new ideas to the table for the new season. What is one of them? That the series is going to be able to disintegrate the notion of giving each judge a separate category to mentor. Instead, each judge could enter the live shows with a group, a boy, a girl, and a member of the Overs, and they could then whittle their team down from there. This is a somewhat-interesting idea, though we do wonder whether this could cause a demographic like the Overs to be booted out very early in the competition in favor of the judges trying to promote their younger talent more.
All we hope for in the end is a little more competitive of a season, and also one where there are innovative risks taken among the contestants and a winner who can go on to be a genuine star. Since One Direction, Little Mix is the only act to even come close.
