‘Shark Tank’ preview: Boo Boo Goo, Henry’s Humdingers, and a Ryan’s Barkery update
There is a new episode of “Shark Tank” airing on ABC Thursday night, but let it be known that this is no ordinary episode of the show. Instead of having the typical entrepreneurs enter the tank in hopes of making their businesses into a success, you instead have here some of the youngest inventors in the country present to make you feel very bad about how much you have accomplished in your life.
The producers here are probably the most varied and interesting that we’ve seen on the show in quite some time, and we’re going to start this preview (as we often do) by sharing the synopsis below:
“The episode features a six-year-old girl from Studio City, CA, who hopes the Sharks get stuck on her paint-on bandage invention that’s not just for kids; a 15-year-old from Virginia Beach, VA has come up with an appealing way to make drinking water more exciting; a socially conscious high school senior from Los Gatos, CA hopes to save the planet from electronic waste with his online recommerce business; and a 16-year-old from Deming, WA, who lives on a farm, wants to help save the bees with his spicy flavored raw honey, a product he started working on when he was 11 years old. There will be an update on 11-year-old Ryan Kelly from Stamford, CT and his homemade dog treats, Ryan’s Barkery, which Barbara invested in during Season 4.”
When it comes to highlighting some of the individual products that stand out to us here, there are a pair that really interest us.
Boo Boo Goo – A very simple name that’s catchy, and really explains what it is perfectly: A goo that serves as an additional method to help heal scabs and cuts alongside bandages. It’s an interesting idea, but one of those things that we would have to see to believe. (Note: We usually share the websites to some of these products, but linking up the product here could actually spoil whether or not they find success in the tank. We’re going to stay mum on it for now.)
Henry’s Humdigers – This may just be us being a foodie, but we love food products on the show that bring new flavor profiles together … regardless of if the entrepreneur is a kid or a 70-year old. These spicy honey flavors look fun and creative, and while we don’t know for certain what the national market would be in terms of repeat business (at least the prices at $6 a jar is not completely insane for honey products), it is something that we could see ourselves buying once. That is more than we can say about many “Shark Tank” products as of late.
