‘The X Factor’ USA: Alex & Sierra attend ‘American Idol,’ cheer on Alex Preston
As with almost every “American Idol” show at this stage in the competition, there are at least one or two familiar faces that tend to stop by in the audience. Tonight, we had more than just former winner Taylor Hicks; we also had the reigning champions of “The X Factor” in Alex & Sierra!
There are of course some obvious connections that the two parties have to “American Idol.” They’ve been on a singing competition recently, and they both air on the same network in Fox. They also have been vocal supporters of Alex Preston for most of the season so far, who has come on the show and been almost an instant favorite thanks to his vocal prowess and musicianship.
Also, Alex Preston posted on Twitter that he used Alex Kinsey’s guitar for his pretty fantastic performance of Jason Mraz’s “A Beautiful Mess”:
“Using @alexkinsey guitar for my performance tomorrow night, this thing plays like butter. Thanks brahhhhh!”
Also, there is one other interesting connection here: Both Alex & Sierra also count Mraz as an influence and one of their favorite artists, and they have even collaborated with him on some upcoming music. The duo is working on a debut album, which is coming out later this year.
Near the end of this show, Alex & Sierra shared a message on the social-networking site talking about their experience being at the show and around the singers:
“we’ve made amazing friends on @AmericanIdol so make sure to watch and vote! doesn’t matter what show we’re from…. we support musicians. :)”
