NBC’s ‘Community’ season 5: Alison Brie, Joel McHale, and others sign on for PaleyFest
Any PaleyFest fans out there? While we don’t imagine that many viewers of some network shows bother to attend or stream some of the panels that take place annually at the Paley Center, “Community” fans are the sort of smart, savvy folks who would be very much willing and excited to see what is going to be taking place.
What we’ll tell you for now is this: The “Community” panel will take place on Wednesday, March 26, and will feature the likes of Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Yvette Nicole Brown, Danny Pudi, Alison Brie, Ken Jeong, and Jim Rash along with executive producers Dan Harmon and Chris McKenna. What is nice about this roster is that this is really the core of the show at this point, and there are not any major omissions. Over the past few years, we’ve become accustomed to seeing a somewhat incomplete group of people. Chevy Chase of course had all of his problems, and for many years we also didn’t see Donald Glover at most of these events as he was focused on other things.
Hopefully, one of the subjects that could be addressed in here is what is going to happen when it comes to the show and two of its big-name guest stars this season: Jonathan Banks and John Oliver. The former has a series regular gig now on the “Breaking Bad” spin-off “Better Call Saul,” which makes it very difficult for him given that the show films in New Mexico. (Hopefully, they’ll shoot at different times). Meanwhile, Oliver has a new show over on HBO. We also don’t even know if the show is for sure returning, but for now, we are staying optimistic.
