ABC’s ‘Revenge’ season 3: Barry Sloane’s status moving forward in question
Are we getting near the end for Aiden on “Revenge“? Based on the latest story that is coming out now, it certainly seems possible that we could only see so much more of the complicated character on the show moving forward.
According to TVLine, Barry Sloane has received permission from the bosses over at the ABC series to entertain offers for new series, which could mean in theory that he could take another gig elsewhere. This is a similar sort of situation to what happened on “Once Upon a Time” last year with Meghan Ory, who was promoted to a series regular in season 2, but found her role to be a little bit less than what was originally planned. There is still an option, per the site, for Sloane to stay on the show next season, and producers could end up exercising it. Basically, Sloane could end up recurring next year even if he is not a regular anymore, and even if he lands a role elsewhere.
Sloane is at least reportedly a candidate to appear in some other series, but even if he is cast in one of them, there are still a number of other issues that will need to be tackled. For example, these shows will have to film a successful pilot, and then be picked up even air in the upcoming season. That’s not always an easy thing to do in this complicated marketplace. While some networks like Fox may be trying to do away with this system, it does still exist for most everyone else.

Aiden was interesting in season 2, but lately, he’s been just a henchman to Emily. I hope Aiden’s flashbacks will be interesting; same with him facing Niko (I’m positive it will happen sooner or later). Like Ashley, if Aiden leaves the show, it’ll probably please the whining fanbase more than anything, at least until they seek another reason to bitch and moan two seconds later, which will most likely be them missing Aiden and wondering why he left. If Aiden is not in Season 4, I’ll be OK with it; same with if he stays, but he needs to get interesting again.
